Happy Hour Again

(why, yes, that is a Housemartins reference)

I had a good time this evening. It was just a nice, normal evening-- happy hour after work with "the girls" for a couple of cocktails, then sitting and jawing with my one teammate (whom I also consider a friend) about nothing to do with work. Honestly, there wasn't one bit of shop talk (brief moments of absolute gossip from the office don't count). I just got in a bit ago. A perfect way to wind down after a crazy week. I don't usually like making heavy plans on Fridays so I can just chill. This counts as chill time, even if not done at home.

While we were still at the bar, it started snowing out. It was breathtakingly beautiful, actually, as we were in front of a huge riverside window with a view of the Manhattan skyline and falling snow. Another good thing about the snow was that I didn't have to do much more than enjoy it visually. We were steps from the PATH train, from which I transfer to the subway underground and, closer to home I was able to transfer to another train that stops on the corner from my apartment building. I usually don't bother transfering as it's a hassle just one stop away and I don't mind the extra walk, but it was a nice option, especially having forgotten my scarf this morning. I think I walked all of about 20 feet* that weren't covered in the whole commute.

This place is cool even sans doing anything "cool". I love that. And the people on the train at 10pm are slightly more entertaining than the people on the train at 6pm.

Okay, and since I now can't stop thinking about the song... I give you... the Housemartins:

God bless the Internet.

(*Disclaimer: I am terrible at judging any distance between a foot and a block.)
