Oh. My. God... Becky...

Oh, my, my... I don't really get to the have-to-wear-sunglasses-and-avoid-all-noise point hung over, but having a couple of cocktails before eating after having had only half of a bowl of soup for lunch is not the wisest of ideas. By now, I'm perfectly fine (with a bit of a lingering headache, but, eh). Oh, and for those interested, candied ginger (not the overly-sweet crystalized stuff) is awesome on the "morning after" tummy.

Tuesday night a few of us went to Shecky's Girl's Night Out, which was fun. I picked up a couple of cool pieces of jewelry for a cool discount, some fun freebies, discounts for later, and a very hefty goody bag. The goody bag alone was worth it (and apparently better than last year's).

I had fun last night, which was the idea. My coworker organized a little happy hour karaoke party. I have few simple musical rules. The biggest being this: I don't like karaoke-- as a spectator or, most especially, as a participant. I find the typical karaoke bar cheesy, unfun, and pointless. I can't handle those who take it far too seriously (I'd much rather see the three suits getting up to sing "Born to be Wild" than Mr. Serious, this-makes-me-a-singer-I-have-groupies guy... eew).

This, however, was one of those places like in Japan where you can get your own little private room. Flowing cocktails (many at happy hour price, no less!), just good friends, a couple of mics, and exploring the song lists. Nobody took it remotely seriously (although I did learn that my friend P. is a total closet rock star!! Who knew?), the ability to say in the middle of a song, "Oh, I guess I don't really know this one after all!" and it was all just fun! With the same crowd, I'd be willing to go again (and this is now on record). What jazz trio would I ever get to play Sir Mix-a-lot songs? (oh, I know they're out there, but I don't think it's quite my performance niche, but my friend's version was definitely awesome)

Okay, I think it's time to grab a bite, a shower and some shut-eye. In that order.

And, now, for your viewing pleasure, a couple of Sir Mix-a-lot "interpretations" (and yes, sisterchick, I was TOTALLY thinking of you, haha!):

Gilbert and Sullivan style!

Now, how about some folk?

And, okay, if you're like me, you're now itchin' for the real thang:
