Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours

Well, it's official. The ink is dry. I went and signed the offer letter this morning and filled out all the paperwork to get things rolling. I should be starting in the next couple weeks. The earliest will be 8/13, so I can have a real vacation in there, knowing I return to a salary instead of just burning through my savings. Very cool.

As a nice side benefit, my medical is through the same insurance I have now, so I can use the same doctors I already have. Sweet. There will be subtle differences, but that's to be expected. I still have to sit down and read through everything.

I'm now a commuter. The job is in Jersey City, literally right across the Hudson and a really easy commute. From downtown, Jersey City is less than 5 minutes by train. If you stand in Manhattan on one side of the river, you can actually see the building. It's a block from the train in one direction and a block from the ferry in the other, and there are several choices to get there.

When I was there for my interview (almost an hour early, since it was so quick getting there), it was a good 10 degrees lower than the city, breezy and lovely. I'll probably be whistling another tune about the weather come winter, but for summer it's pretty nice.
