Remember Me to Herald Square

I went and braved Herald Square today. It was finally time to shop for interview clothes. Yes, some lucky few may just get to witness me in a suit for the first time in about a decade (I'm spoiled from working in jeans and more casual attire). Let's hope it's limited to interviews only. I prefer working in a more casual environment. Fortunately, NYC has gotten a lot more casual (north of Wall Street) over the years, but I may also end up in the financial sector, which is the exception.

While not a physically relaxing weekend, at least it's sans housing stress, which was getting down to the wire. I've been shopping Murphy beds online. There are some pretty cool options (like this one: http://www.morespaceplace.com/libraryframe.html), so I may wait until I'm gainfully employed to decide on a more permanent and pricy bedding solution and just live with a futon or such for now (since I already have the matress coming with the movers). It's a very small space, so I'll have to get creative. Fortunately, there are a lot of multi-purpose furniture solutions out there for people who live in an overgrown walk-in closet :) I'm going to have to go back and look at the space again to truly get a sense of it again. The layout is easy to remember, but I'll need to take dimensions. I'll try and remember to take photos of it while empty 'cause it's probably the last time you'll really see the floor (and it's a nice floor at that!) once the movers arrive with my piano, chair, and mattress. The wall bed would be nice to create living space when not sleeping. When it's down, there doesn't need to be any sort of real moving-around space.

OOOOOOOOOOH... and for my fellow jazz fans (and performers), the restaurant downstairs does live jazz every Saturday night (thankfully, I'm also several floors above it) and a jazz Sunday brunch. I'll be sure to check it out. There's a trio and vocalist who already have the steady gig, unfortunately ;) But, it never hurts to meet new friends and hear good tunes.

Now that I'll be settled soon, I'd imagine I'll have more time to write and sing, and all the other things I've been too scattered here to do. I will say I've really missed having my piano.
