I'm off to NOLA jazz fest tomorrow. We fly out at a pretty insane hour of the morning (the car arrives at 4am), but I'm almost done packing and am tying up loose ends. In any case, I can always sleep on the plane ;)
If I don't post along the way (surprisingly, I'm not bringing a laptop, but I'll have the Crackberry), I'm sure I'll have plenty to say when I get back.
If you should happen to check the schedule and see some artists that aren't to be missed (Cassandra Wilson and Billy Joel are already musts, of course. And I've seen Elvis Costello with Alan Toussant, but will happily sit through them again), drop an email. The schedules are packed and overwhelming, so I'd love some recs for the open times during which we're undecided.

- I'm a jazz musician (vocal), happy wife (yay!) and a non-traditional, slaving student (and loving it). I have a strong background in musical theatre, but most recently spent about a decade working in high tech, though I'm not your typical geek (not saying I'm not a geek, just different). I constantly feel the need for growth and learning new things. I am looking forward to being on both sides of that process as a teacher. I think once someone feels he has achieved perfection is the moment he stops feeling the need to strive for it and, thus, stops learning. I hope to never lose that internal drive. (I'm also the queen of parenthetical statements).
