Soup is Good Food

First off, the benefit on Monday night was fun. There were some excellent performances and just plain good fun.

This cold is holding strong, but I've got enough zinc in me that I'm almost afraid I'll rust after showering. Yesterday I was sounding like I was Kathleen Turner and Bea Arthur's love child. While I have some of my high notes back, I don't sound like my usual self just yet. I'm trying to speak as little as possible in hopes my voice will rebound more quickly. I think I'm finally on the mend, though. I've assembled a soupy, garlic-filled rice bowl for dinner to be on the safe side. It's been years since a cold has lasted even remotely this long. It's been going around, though. I know several before me who've been battling the same thing for just as long (or longer). It hasn't been the worst ever (knock wood!), it just seems to want to linger on.

Things at work have calmed a bit. Well, the work load isn't calm, but the atmosphere is again. My stress levels were a bit elevated for a few days. It wasn't anything I took home with me, but being there wasn't joyful there for a bit. I'm back to my usual happy, zen self, doing what I need to do and being productive. and enjoying myself in the process.

I'm having a small procedure on my back tomorrow afternoon. It's different from the spinal injections I've gotten previously. This is to attack the arthritis in the joints, not the bad discs. This is the temporary one that's a bit of a test run. If it works, I go back in a couple of weeks for more of a longer-term procedure (usually lasts 6-9 months). I'm hoping this helps. It would be really nice to go without pain for a while, especially if that means not doing horrible things to my body (like a fusion, which I refuse to do) that would likely come back to get me even worse down the line.

I'm anticipating a mellow weekend. I want to see how I feel after tomorrow. I do have plans to head out of the city with some friends on Saturday, but it's pretty low key. I'm concerned about sitting for the drive and such, but there's always the TENS unit to keep me going.

Wow, you're fast!! :)

When I got your text this afternoon, I said to my co-worker, as I held the phone to my forehead before I flipped it open, and said "It's my twin wishing me a Happy St. Pat's". Very glad I was right!!
