Busy, busy! I can't believe it's already Sunday night again. I have a feeling this next week I'm really going to have my nose to the proverbial grindstone, but then the site should be launching (knock wood) and we (at work) can all exhale for a bit.
I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving and a long weekend of selective relaxation. Plus, this is my favorite time of year in this city-- seeing the balloons blown up before the Macy's parade, walking through Central Park when the leaves have turned, smelling the roasted nuts from the street vendors (even though I can't eat them, haha), feeling the chill on my cheeks as I'm bundled up like the kid from A Christmas Story... love it, love it. I've never seen the tree lit up at Rockefeller Center, as I seemed to always miss it by a week or so, but I'm looking forward to that, too-- especially since it's so close to home. They've already put the lights up along 5th Avenue.
It's been weird in my neighborhood this weekend. For those not into the theater scene, there's a stagehand strike at the moment (started yesterday morning), paralysing much of Broadway at the moment. There are only a few Broadway shows not affected. So, it seems many tourists don't know what to do or where to go. It was unusually crowded in the streets after 8 last night. And there were no matinee crowds waiting outside the theaters this afternoon as I walked around. I hope it's resolved soon without the stagehands (or the actors, for that matter, being out of work) taking too much of a hit. Hopefully, they can resolve things before Tuesday, as most shows are dark tonight and tomorrow anyway.
Now that it's getting colder, I'm joining a new gym (post-launch, of course). The same gym chain is a block from work and two blocks from home, so I'll have little excuse, especially already having workout buddies at both. I'm still keeping up walking a ton, but I know that's bound to dwindle as the temperature drops. Plus, I found out the one by my apartment has a pool. And here I was going way out of my way for one this summer (then again, since I was unemployed for some of it, it was a better deal).
I treated myself very nicely today. I went for a nice long walk, did a little shopping (winter sweaters... mmm, cozy...), then came home and cleaned my apartment, which was overdue. Somehow, I've been able to spend enough time at home just to mess it up, but not to clean it. I was glad to check that off the list.
I'm off in a bit to meet a friend for dinner. Afterward, I'm planning on hitting the hay at a reasonable hour and getting a good start to my week ahead. I left a rather long list for myself on Friday, so I need any head start I can get.
