I finally remembered to wear my pedometer to work today (it keeps me honest). I've been wearing it more afterward and on weekends lately. Just between my regular commute and my average walking around the office, I walked 3+ miles. Since I usually strive for a 4-mile minimum each day, that's not too bad. It was actually far more than I expected (and yes, the pedometer is calibrated). I can easily make up the extra mile (and then some) in my day. When it's cooler, I can take off for a mile or so and walk along the water during my lunch hour. We've hit another heat wave this week.
Tuesday evening, I walked home from downtown, which is in itself a 4-mile walk. I was already planning on doing that regularly, which will allow for a bit of slack on the weekends. And when it's absolutely freezing outside, I won't feel the pressure to fight it or, more dreadfully boring, hang out on a treadmill very long. I've been upping my resistance training again, too, as well as cutting back on any office snacking. After my mom, I let that part slide a bit (since I easily went from not able to eat a bite to having an unusual sweet tooth), but it's time to put a stop to that one. I've been better about sticking to only my own food (the good stuff) and passing on the cookies and such that are passed around on far too regular a basis.
During this whole last few weeks, I haven't gained anything back (luckily), but I haven't lost any more, either (okay, all of 2 pounds). So, it's time I buckle back down and step up the game. I can always feel when I've been sticking to cleaner living-- I have so much more energy and feel better, in general. I'm having a tough time getting to sleep (I have to make sure to start the resistance stuff earlier so I'm not so amped up), but once I'm asleep I'm finally sleeping through the night more often. I think the weird dreams are just as active, but I'm walking up to them less.
On a completely different subject, I scored comps tonight to see Maritius (Broadway) tonight. It's got several good people in it, most notably F. Murray Abraham (Salieri in the film version of Amadeus). I've heard good things, so am looking forward to it.
Work suddenly got crazy-busy and will be for the next couple of months. I'm trying to balance things as much as possible for now, but I won't be planning too much mid-week any time soon. If tonight hadn't been comps, I definitely would have made another choice, but it's not the end of the world that I left on time today. Work can't be all-consuming, after all. Thankfully, if there is a huge time crunch, my boss is good about working out comp time later to balance, if necessary.
Lots more stuff to say, but gotta' shower and run. More later!
