Take Me to the River

I got my new driver's license in the mail today. It's nice to see NY's DMV photographers are on par with CA's. I basically look naked. I was wearing a green t-shirt when it was taken (I think) and it looks flesh colored, lol.

I need to take my camera to work on a nice day like today. The weather was absolutely beautiful, unlike much of the week. I took this with my phone to give you an idea of the view I have at work. We're right on the water. I'll have to take more shots later with a decent camera 'cause the view from my office is even better-- you can see the water and the entire NYC skyline, the Empire State Building, etc. Pretty stunning on the right day. Even when it's a bit stormy, it still has its own beauty. You can often see kayakers, sail boats and even big clipper ships on the water.

This is from the ground, not the view from the office (I forgot while I was still upstairs). The camera phone made my surroundings look darker than it was:

As for the rest of my day, it was very good. I got my ass kicked by some code about which I was unaware, but it was a very good thing in the end, proving I was not as completely insane as I'd felt when trying to test my configurations (and that, in this version, it's actually *supposed* to break! I'm working on future stuff.). I learned a lot. And I actually got to do some real work today! Good thing because my counterpart leaves the country on vacation tonight for two weeks. I have two days to work on some much needed sleep and time adjustment. And do a little more shopping for smaller clothes (at this rate, I can only plan about a week ahead). I have to relearn the concept of weekends.

I was doing a little thinking today. I pretty much ended up exactly where I wanted to be career-wise without even looking exactly for it. Pretty cool. Speaking of cool, I haven't turned my air conditioner on for three or four days. Now THAT is cool!
