I finally feel like my body is getting back to normal (whatever that means, lol). I've been really preoccupied the past couple of weeks, getting really sick at the tale end of some dramatic craziness. I'll spare everyone the stories.
So, my body is giving signs it's getting back to its usual self, which is a relief.
The weather has been nice. It was a bit hot today for my taste, but much of the week has been nice and cool, with only one thunder storm out of the few the weather man had threatened.
Yesterday afternoon, a couple of friends surprised me by popping in on their day off and on their way to a walk through Central Park, inviting me along. I haven't been to the park in a while, so it was appealing. Instead, however, we got sidetracked. We walked to one of their apartments (down in the East Village, so still a good, lengthy walk), catching up as we went along. I can't express how nice it is to have NY "family". Close enough so that when they drop in and my apartment is in a shambles from some organizing mid-way and my lunch dishes still sitting out that I didn't flip out for them to see it, haha. They both knew I hadn't been feeling well and I think came to scoop me up and do some cheering. It was just what I needed.
When we got to the Village, we talked and laughed and played a couple of games of Trivial Pursuit before going to a late dinner. Yes, we actually can still have a nice dinner out here when leaving the house at 11pm, and not even just at a 24-hour place-- I love New York.
Today, I met up with another friend for a movie. We saw "Evening", which has been getting terrible reviews in my circle, but I wanted to see it anyway. I didn't hate it, although the person I was with wasn't too thrilled about it. It was slow moving, but there were some scenes I felt made it worth it.
I also discovered the wonders of Westerly Natural market this evening. It's like a small Whole Foods, but much closer and less expensive, plus they're a little more relaxed with their rules than Whole Foods as to what they'll sell, so I can do a more comprehensive shopping there than at WF. I picked up a nice lot of food for the week, and less expensively than at my regular grocery store (which is a few blocks closer, but small and not the greatest).
On my way home from Westerly, I passed the Iridium and saw Mose Allison is playing this weekend. I had other plans, but may try and switch around a bit to see him tomorrow night. I think he'd be cool to see live. I'd go to the second show tonight but have other things I want to get done before I turn in.
