En Why Cee

Greetings from New York. Already, I feel I'm being treated differently than I did as a visitor. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to tell outsiders, but I haven't yet signed my resident's contract, so I'll let the cat out of the bag... I got a bottle of water at the airport... at JFK... that WASN'T Poland Springs. Mmmhmm... as I suspected, they hold back the good stuff for the locals ;) (okay, so probably only those of you who've been here get that... trust me, it's weird).

So, it's true what they say-- A tree does grow in Brooklyn. And it's right outside my window! The photo below is the front of the building.

It was weird to hop into the cab and give a non-midtown-Manhattan address, but off to Brooklyn I went. Now, I fully expected to be living in the "hood" here. I know about this particular area's rep, although I'd heard this particular area has been cleaned up a bit. Still, you get what you pay for and, for a month in a NY- especially a temporary one, I paid very little. As we drove further through Brooklyn, my hunches were confirmed. It looked a bit like Avenue Q. About 2 blocks from here, however, all of the sudden I thought, "Hey, this is cute!". As with all cities, what a difference a block makes.

I just got in a bit ago, took a tour of the house, and started to get an internal lay of the land. Once I was here, I was really in zero mood to go out exploring, so instead I'm showered and in my jammies, being kept company by a TV with more channels than could be healthy for anyone.

I took the official step of changing the time zone on my laptop. That's about as far as I go tonight. This has quite possibly been one of the toughest weeks of my life (tough isn't always bad). I have far more detail on that later. My body should be telling me it's only 6:30pm, but I've adjusted to the new time quite well by getting hardly any sleep last night, only sleeping on the way to my connecting flight in L.A.

Bottom line, I'm here, I'm safe, I'm off for some serious rest. Far more to say later
